United Methodist Women

The South Yarmouth United Methodist Church supports a strong and vibrant unit of the United Methodist Women (UMW).

The UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

A member'€™s responsibilities are to affirm and support the Purpose, assume a part in the support of the UMW’s work in the local unit, in the community, across the nation, and around the world; to aspire to educate herself about the mission work of the UMW, and to engage in critical analysis and active listening, being open to different views and perceptions.

We participate in ecumenical endeavors, including Church Women United World Day of Prayer. We host an annual ecumenical tea for neighboring churchwomen's groups. We coordinate the Dress-a-Live-Doll program in our local church with the Salvation Army's national project.

The South Yarmouth United Methodist Women contribute annually to:

  • Cape Cod Ministry
  • Walk for Hunger
  • Cape Cod Council of Churches
  • Cape Cod Council of Churches€™ Chaplaincy Fund
  • Champ House
  • The Needy Fund
  • and other funds during the year

The UMW Executive Board meets at 10 AM in the Fishermen'€™s House Library the first Monday of the months of September through June.

General meetings are held at 1 PM in the Parish Hall the second Monday of the months of January, March, May, June, September, October and December unless notified of a change.
